Project Areas: Pemba

  • 4 Districts, 32 Communities and 33, 601 beneficiaries reached
  • 76% experienced improved income and 83% reported adoption of project promoted innovations.
  • 59% of women completely control their project initiated income and 39% control in consultation with their husbands.
  • 25 community nurseries were established, 646,113 seedlings planted and 226 hectares of mapped land reforested.
  • 6 Participatory Natural Resource formulated, Management Plans with  18 by-laws each and 384 hectares under to community management.
  • 95% of farmers reported increased yields after converting from annual agriculture
  • 443 beehives installed and 239 direct project participants trained.
  • 5 community-scale rainwater systems with 400m  total storage capacity constructed.
  • 441 households have improved access to water.
  • 2 schools constructed to improve access to knowledge.
  • 1,738 clean stoves were produced, and 205 kitchen gardens established and 2,464 women trained.
